Effectia analyses demand for research and innovation talent at Transfiere 2024

Representatives from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Research Centres of Catalonia (CERCA) and the Cotec Foundation for Innovation will take part in the thematic panel. It will be moderated by Lorena Muñoz, CEO of Effectia, and will take place on Wednesday 20 March at 12:40 in the Agora space at FYCMA (Málaga).

The demand for, attraction, management and retention of research talent, together with the essential skills researchers need in a changing labour market, provide the starting point for this thematic panel within Transfiere, the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation. The event will take place on 20, 21 and 22 March at FYCMA (Málaga Trade Fair and Congress Centre).

As a specialist in this field, Effectia wants to open a discussion on how scientific talent is fostered and attracted, and on the skills researchers will need in the short, medium and long term to adapt to an increasingly global and cross-disciplinary professional environment. The subject will be addressed from both national and European perspectives, and from the viewpoints of public research and private enterprise.

The round table will include José Manuel Pingarrón, Secretary General for Universities at the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities; Eloísa del Pino, President of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC); Lluís Rovira, European HRS4R Award evaluator and former director of CERCA in Catalonia; and Jorge Barrero Fonticoba, Director General of the Cotec Foundation for Innovation. The discussion will be moderated by Lorena Muñoz, CEO of Effectia.

The invited speakers will contribute their perspectives and experience on the current research labour market, how talent development is regulated and incentivised, what research institutions and private companies are looking for in researcher profiles, and how researchers can prepare for the labour market ahead: which hard and soft skills they will need to develop to adapt to the future of research.

As part of the Transfiere Forum programme, Effectia Innovation Solutions is organising two workshops focused on human resources and research excellence, as well as knowledge transfer. The first parallel session is entitled “The European HR Excellence in Research Award (HRS4R) and the keys to success in the national Severo Ochoa–María de Maeztu calls” and will take place on Wednesday 20 March from 16:00 to 17:00. The second workshop, “Keys to strategic planning in R&D&I organisations and spin-off funding”, will be held on Thursday 21 March from 13:00 to 14:00. Both workshops will take place in Multipurpose Room 4 at FYCMA (Málaga), and registration is already open to Transfiere visitors through the following links:
